Biography
Robyn's journey into the world of filmmaking began with a Nikon 35mm camera in hand and a passion for capturing the world through a lens. From an early age, Robyn’s fascination with photography transformed into a creative pursuit of storytelling, where every photo taken was more than just an image—it was the beginning of a narrative. As a teenager, this passion deepened with the purchase of a first film camera, which led to the creation of short films starring family, pets, and the everyday scenes of life.
While studying in Canada, Robyn’s artistic vision expanded further, embracing the technical and creative challenges of shooting on 16mm film. This experience solidified a lifelong love for storytelling, whether through writing, directing, or capturing the perfect shot. At just 16, Robyn made a directorial debut with a local drama group, leading to a sold-out production of "The Wind in the Willows" and setting the stage for a future in directing.
Determined to learn from the best, Robyn began working as a floor runner and assistant director, gaining invaluable experience on film sets and developing a keen understanding of how to direct actors and bring a script to life on screen. This hands-on education culminated in the direction of the short film "Late," starring Nathalie Emmanuel, which earned nominations at several international film festivals and marked Robyn as a rising talent in the industry.
In recent years, Robyn has focused on documentary film making, directing several short documentaries that explore compelling real-world stories. Currently, Robyn is in production on two feature-length documentaries, continuing to push creative boundaries. Guided by the belief that true creativity requires both dreaming and daring, Robyn Fox Henderson remains committed to telling stories that resonate and inspire.
